Tourists

You know what. No. I have another kvetch. Ever walk out of Crumbs on 8th with a cappuccino and see the big red bus with tourists taking pictures of you? These people need to go back to midtown. I am tired of giving directions to people who want to go to texas, instead of Houston Street. I am tired of people asking me to take their picture, or rather, having to stop in the middle of the sidewalk so some girl from Kentucky can take a picture infront of a big building. Ever sit down to make a call or open your travel mug when someone with a Chicago accent asks you where the nearest bathroom is? What do I look like? A fucking Macys employee?! Ever had your picture taken by a tourist because you are a "real NYU student"? I have. Arg. Please go home, or at least back to times square and don't come below 14th St again!

Let the Kvetching Begin!

So, out of Boredom I decided to start a blog by someone who lives in the Village, for people who live in the village. Being the winey Jew I am, I only felt it appropriate to name it the Village Kvetch. While we all love the village, we all complain about it too.

My first four kvetches:
1. The MTA: First they raise our fair $.25. Then they cut service by a bunch, eliminate two whole lines (the W and the Z), eliminate Student fares and lay off station agents. This is terrible, dont the people in charge know that Public transportation is always supposed to run in the red?!?!? I am not pleased.

2.Expensive Groceries: So yeah, we all have to deal with this, but it is getting absurd. First off, I am referring to grocery stores like Dagostinos, Gristidies, Morton Williams and Food Emporium. I am way to broke to shop at whole paycheck. As a matter of fact, I am way to broke to shop for food at all. And according to the posters in the subways for food stamps, so are one-third of New Yorkers. Come on now. This is absurd. $50 for a bag of groceries is just insane.

3. Hipsters: Ever been on the "L" Train and seen some skinny guy wearing his girlfriends jeans and an Arctic Monkey's Shirt. That'd be a hipster. Ok, They have cool music, they dress cool and I will hand it to them, I like PBR, but hipsters need to go back to Bklyn and stay there. They are pretentious douches, and they can go away for all I care.

4. The construction in Washington Square Park: We all love the park, I walk thru it every day, and now I need to walk around it so they can fix something that was just fine in the first place. City of NY, here is an idea, take all of the money you wasted on WSP and make the NQRW run on time!

These are my first four complaints, although they will be more to come. (PS- I will also be sharing jems of the village soon too!) Let me know what you think of the Blog!
